★ 1-star hotel · Atout France classification of 25 January 2022
Metro 1 1 Saint-Paul · 4 min walk
Metro 1, 5, 8 1 5 8 Bastille · 5 min walk
48 rue Saint-Antoine, 75004 Paris · 22 rooms
The only one-star hotel of the 4th arrondissement, at 48 rue Saint-Antoine, with rooms from single to quadruple. It declares itself accessible to guests with visual or hearing impairments and mentions no lift, air conditioning or pets. Its classification is valid to 25 January 2027. We could not test its booking engine, which needs JavaScript.
The rule is the shortest of our lists: every hotel of the 3rd and 4th arrondissements that falls in the € band of our database. The band is estimated from the official category, because we publish no prices. Atout France, the national agency, gives one star or two to the eight hotels at the bottom of the scale, and a price band follows from that. A ninth hotel, Paris France Hôtel, is classified three stars, but its own website showed a starting rate in the same band on 2 October 2026, so we kept it.
The three-star hotels of the €€ band are not included. The order of the cards is a travel criterion: walking time to the nearest metro station, in minutes, from one to four, and for equal times the larger hotel first. The band is a guide; check the rate for your dates on the hotel’s own site, since prices move.
Where they are
Arts-et-Métiers and Temple, 3rd arrondissement. Paris France Hôtel, Paris Bruxelles, Hôtel de Roubaix, So’Marais and Bellevue et du Chariot d’Or. The nearest stations are Temple, République, Réaumur–Sébastopol and Arts et Métiers, on lines 3, 4, 5, 8, 9 and 11; line 8 does not stop at République until April 2027.
Haut-Marais, 3rd. Hôtel Américain, on rue Charlot, three minutes from Filles du Calvaire (line 8) and four from Oberkampf and République (line 8 does not stop at République until April 2027).
Saint-Paul, 4th. Emile, Pratic and Sully Hôtel, all within four minutes of Saint-Paul (line 1), with Bastille and Sully-Morland a little farther.
Only four hotels of the nine mention air conditioning, three have a room listed as adapted for wheelchair users without contradiction, and none has a restaurant or a spa. Their selling points are location, family rooms and a low category. If you need more comfort at a higher level, the 3rd arrondissement list and the 4th arrondissement list include three-star and four-star hotels chosen by facilities.
The tourist tax is added to the bill, per adult and per night: €2.60 in a one-star and €3.25 in a two-star in 2026, €5.53 in a three-star. Under-18s are exempt. For the whole district, see the home page; for design, boutique hotels in Le Marais.
Frequently asked questions
Which affordable hotels in the Marais district of Paris stand out?
We rank none, and we publish no prices. What we can say is which hotels sit in the lowest price band of our database, estimated from the official category: two one-stars, six two-stars and, because its website showed a starting rate in that band on 2 October 2026, one three-star. They are the nine on this page.
Where should I stay in Le Marais on a budget?
Six of the nine are in the 3rd arrondissement, five of them in Arts-et-Métiers or on its edge, around Temple, République and Réaumur–Sébastopol; the 3rd also holds Hôtel Américain, in the Haut-Marais. The three others, Emile, Pratic and Sully Hôtel, are in the 4th around Saint-Paul. The Arts-et-Métiers area is outside the tourist zones, so Sunday shop opening is not guaranteed there.
Is it cheaper to stay at a hotel or an Airbnb in Paris?
We do not compare nightly rates, because our base holds none. One fact we do hold concerns the tourist tax: classified hotels pay a fixed amount per adult and night, €2.60 for one star and €3.25 for two in 2026, while unclassified accommodation, including unclassified furnished flats, pays 5 % of the nightly rate before tax per person, capped at €15.93.
Do cheap hotels in Le Marais have air conditioning?
Four of the nine mention it: Paris France Hôtel, Emile, Hôtel de Roubaix and Pratic. The other five do not. A star classification does not require it below four stars, so ask before a summer stay.
Is there a hostel in Le Marais?
Our database of the 3rd and 4th arrondissements contains no hostel, only classified hotels, so we cannot recommend one. The lowest official categories we hold are the two one-star hotels, So'Marais and Sully Hôtel.
