Hotels Marais Paris

Two tables, checked one by one

Many online lists of Marais brunches come from blogs with no recognised source. We applied three tests to each candidate: an official website, an editorial source, and a sign of activity in 2026. Two addresses passed. Others that search engines mention have no readable official site or no proof for 2026, and we left them out rather than guess.

Le Loir dans la Théière, 3 rue des Rosiers (4th)

A tea room in a former printing house, open since 1980, serving breakfast and brunch. Its website gives opening hours from Monday to Sunday, 9 a.m. to 7.30 p.m., and states that the restaurant takes no reservations. Time Out Paris has an entry for it, though an old one, from 2011; that is the weakest part of the evidence, which is why we describe the address rather than praise it.

Since there is no booking, the rule is to come early or accept a wait. Rue des Rosiers is pedestrianised on Sundays, when it is very busy; our page on the rue des Rosiers explains the Sunday and Shabbat rhythm of the street. The tea room is a short walk from the place des Vosges, which is about 433 metres from no. 1 rue des Rosiers on foot.

Bontemps, 57 rue de Bretagne (3rd)

Lunch and brunch in a tea room, at the weekend. The official site gives brunch service on Saturday 10.30 a.m. to 2.30 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., Sunday 10.30 a.m. to 2.30 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. Le Fooding lists Bontemps in its selection of Marais restaurants (July 2024) and gives a price band of €16 to €35.

The street is the one that runs past the covered market of the Enfants-Rouges, at no. 39; the market is open on Sunday from 8.30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and closed on Monday, according to paris.fr.

What each table says about itself

Le Loir dans la Théière describes a daily menu, “savoury and sweet”, made on the premises and served from breakfast to afternoon tea. Its rooms keep the printing-house shell: vintage posters, flea-market furniture and murals inspired by Alice in Wonderland, as the website describes them. There is no reservation, so the weekend rule is to arrive at opening time, 9 a.m., or to accept a queue.

Le Fooding presents Bontemps as a tea salon and pastry shop with savoury dishes, in a room of suspended opaline lamps, pale-pink walls and velvet armchairs. Its entry, of July 2024, gives 11 a.m. to 7.30 p.m. (10 a.m. at weekends) and closure on Monday and Tuesday; the official site gives the brunch times above, so check the day before you go.

The two addresses are 845 m apart in a straight line, about 14 minutes on foot by our rule of 1.3 times the straight line at 80 metres a minute. They suit different mornings: the rue des Rosiers is the one for a stroll through the old Jewish quarter and the museums nearby, the rue de Bretagne the one for the covered market.

What is nearby

Le Loir dans la Théière is 100 m from the Bibliothèque historique de la Ville de Paris, 161 m from the Carnavalet Museum and 179 m from the church of Saint-Paul–Saint-Louis; the Cognacq-Jay museum is 215 m away. Bontemps is 153 m from the Marché des Enfants-Rouges and 303 m from the Museum of Hunting and Nature. The Museum of Hunting and Nature, like the Carnavalet, is closed on Monday.

The hotel beside each table

Straight-line distances below come from our coordinates. Le Loir dans la Théière has the three-star Grand Hôtel Malher at 65 m, the two-star Hôtel Emile at 104 m and the four-star Hôtel de JoBo at 122 m; eleven hotels of our base are within 300 m. Metro for each table

Both addresses can be reached from the metro, on different lines, so a Sunday journey depends on which table you choose.

  • Grand Hôtel Malher, 65 m from Le Loir dans la Théière, lists Saint-Paul (line 1) at 50 m, 1 min on foot; Pont Marie (line 7) at 500 m, 6 min on foot.
  • La Chambre du Marais, 35 m from Bontemps, lists Temple (line 3) at 400 m, 5 min on foot; Arts et Métiers (lines 3 and 11) at 450 m, 6 min on foot.

On a Sunday, check the line first: our guide to Le Marais on Sunday lists the Sunday works on lines 6 and 13.

Practical points for a Sunday

  • Check the metro before leaving: on line 8, République has no train stops until April 2027, while lines 3, 5, 9 and 11 still serve it.
  • The two addresses are in different arrondissements, the 4th and the 3rd, so choose one rather than plan both.
  • For other tables and their closing days, see our list of restaurants in Le Marais, and for something simpler, falafel in Le Marais.

Where to stay for a late breakfast

For a wider choice by arrondissement, compare hotels in the 3rd and hotels in the 4th, or hotels near the rue des Rosiers.
