The top of rue des Archives

La Chambre du Marais occupies nos. 85–87 rue des Archives, at the northern end of the street towards rue de Bretagne, in the Enfants-Rouges administrative quarter of the 3rd arrondissement. We list it with the Haut-Marais rather than the Archives, since the covered market is two minutes away and the National Archives eight.

Atout France, which grants official hotel stars in France, classified it four stars on 27 July 2026 for 19 rooms. It is one of the most recent decisions among the hotels in this guide; only 9Confidentiel has a more recent decision among the 70 hotels in our database.

Rooms, family suites and the bar

The hotel describes itself as a large Parisian family home, with each of its 19 rooms in a different colour and design. For families it offers three formats: the Parisian Suite for two adults and two children, Corner rooms that can take one child, and the Family Suite — two rooms facing each other, closed off from the corridor by their own door.

There is no restaurant: apart from breakfast, served until noon, and room service, the hotel serves only drinks. Those come from Le Bar de la Chambre, open from noon to midnight to guests and to people from the neighbourhood. The FAQ mentions air conditioning or heating in all rooms and common areas.

The same FAQ is clear about what is missing: no rooms accessible to guests with reduced mobility (equipment for visual or hearing impairment can be provided), no pets other than assistance dogs, and no car park — guests are directed to the Interparking car park at 132 rue du Temple.

Neighbours on foot

Beyond the Marché des Enfants-Rouges, the Musée de la Chasse et de la Nature is four minutes away, and the Musée Picasso, the Musée des Arts et Métiers and the Archives nationales are all about eight. Two five-star hotels are three minutes away: Maison Proust, with its pool, and Experimental Marais.

Among the four-star hotels around it, the Hôtel du Petit Moulin, about four minutes away on rue de Poitou, is a similar size (17 rooms) but accepts pets and has an accessible room; the Boudoir des Muses, also four minutes away, adds private spas. 1K Paris, six minutes away on boulevard du Temple, is more than twice as large with 48 rooms and has a restaurant and a gym.
