How we chose and ordered them
The question is vague, so we made it measurable. The reference is the metro station Hôtel de Ville (lines 1 and 11), about 130 metres from the building. We kept every hotel of our database for which this station is among the three nearest and is six minutes’ walk or less away. That gives twelve, out of 70 hotels in the Marais. We did not rank by straight-line distance from the building, which would give a different order; where we quote one, it is measured from the building’s own coordinates (OpenStreetMap). Three hotels are nearer the building than Hôtel Beaubourg (403 metres) yet are not here, because their station is seven minutes away: Caron de Beaumarchais (320 metres), Roi de Sicile Rivoli (360) and Dupond-Smith (380); they appear on our rue des Rosiers page.
Cards run from the shortest walk to the longest. For equal times, the higher official category comes first, and an unclassified house last. Walking times come from the open data of Île-de-France Mobilités and the hotels’ coordinates.
The sector
This is the corner of the Marais with the most connections. Châtelet, with five metro lines, and the RER stations of Châtelet–Les Halles (A, B and D) are three to nine minutes away on foot from the hotels above that list Châtelet; the RER B reaches Charles-de-Gaulle directly and line 14 reaches Orly. The BHV Marais stands north of rue de Rivoli, and the Centre Pompidou, near Rambuteau station, has been closed for works until 2030: see our page on hotels near the Centre Pompidou. For the town hall’s history and how to enter, read the Hôtel de Ville guide; for the department store, the BHV Marais.

On shop opening, two regimes share the sector. West of rue des Archives and north of rue de Rivoli the international tourist zone is called Les Halles; east of it, it is Le Marais. The town hall itself stands south of rue de Rivoli, outside both.
Before you book
Eight of the twelve list air conditioning; Hôtel France Louvre says it has fans only, and three do not mention it. Only Le Grand Mazarin, Hôtel Duo and 9Confidentiel state that they have adapted rooms. Tourist tax, per adult and per night in 2026: €11.70 in a five-star, €8.45 in a four-star, €5.53 in a three-star. The wider sector is covered in hotels in the 4th arrondissement, and the whole district on the home page.
