Hôtel de Nice, Paris

On the corner of rue de Rivoli

Hôtel de Nice stands at 42 bis rue de Rivoli, at the corner of the place du Bourg-Tibourg, in a building from the end of the 19th century. The hotel says it has carried on the tradition of hospitality at this address for a hundred years; we have no other source for that figure. It is independent, according to its legal notice, and we found no link with the four-star Hôtel Bourg Tibourg nearby.

Atout France, the government agency that classifies hotels, gave it three stars on 14 March 2022, for 23 rooms. When we checked on 2 October 2026, booking went through a contact form on the website or through Booking.com; no integrated reservation engine was visible.

Rooms like a friend’s house

The hotel describes a bohemian “house of friends”: every room has its own colours, paintings and period furniture, and the shared spaces display pictures and engravings of the history of Paris. Rooms take one to three people — singles, doubles, twins and triples — and all are air-conditioned. A lift serves the floors.

Pets are welcome if they are, in the hotel’s words, kind and well behaved, and reception should be told in advance. The building is not accessible to guests with reduced mobility. Breakfast is the only meal.

Rivoli, the BHV and the Pletzl

The BHV Marais department store is three minutes away and opens on Sundays. The Mémorial de la Shoah, free to individual visitors and closed on Saturdays, is three minutes away too, rue des Rosiers four. Hôtel de Ville station, on lines 1 and 11, is five minutes on foot, Pont Marie on line 7 six.

Two other three-stars are a minute away: the Hôtel Caron de Beaumarchais, which limits its 19 rooms to two guests and does not take pets, and France Louvre (34 rooms), at 40 rue de Rivoli. Hôtel Bourg Tibourg, a four-star with interiors by Jacques Garcia, is a minute away, and the five-star Le Grand Mazarin two.
