The 4th arrondissement has 38 hotels in our database. A list of the dearest ones would say little about the district, so the rule is mechanical and applied sector by sector. We divide the arrondissement into five sectors — Saint-Paul, rue des Rosiers, Hôtel de Ville, the place des Vosges and the islands. In each, for every official category present (five, four, three, two and one star), we keep the hotel that lists the most facilities on its own website: restaurant, bar, spa, pool, gym, terrace, patio, air conditioning, family and accessible rooms, pets, parking.
When two hotels tie, the one nearer its metro station comes first. Hotels without an official classification, two in the 4th, are left out. That gives fifteen hotels, shown sector by sector, starting with the Hôtel de Ville. A count of facilities measures what is on offer, not quality: Hôtel de JoBo, Roi de Sicile Rivoli or Hôtel Castex are not lesser hotels; they simply list fewer facilities than the pick of their category. The 3rd arrondissement follows the same rule in hotels in the 3rd arrondissement.
The five sectors
Saint-Paul (16 hotels). Line 1 at Saint-Paul, Sully-Morland on line 7, the Village Saint-Paul and the car-free place du Marché-Sainte-Catherine. The biggest choice: 5 of the 15 picks. See also hotels near rue Saint-Paul.
Rue des Rosiers (4). The Pletzl, the historic Jewish quarter; the street is 303 metres long and car-free on Sundays since 2006. The hotels here are four to seven minutes on foot from Saint-Paul, Pont Marie or Hôtel de Ville. See hotels near rue des Rosiers.
Hôtel de Ville (11). The corner with the most connections. Châtelet, with five metro lines, and the RER B towards Charles-de-Gaulle are three to nine minutes away on foot from the hotels that list the station; line 14 reaches Orly from Châtelet. Our page on hotels near the Hôtel de Ville lists them by distance.
Place des Vosges (3). The square straddles two arrondissements, and only its north side belongs to the 3rd. Two of the sector’s three hotels are classified. Le Pavillon de la Reine, at no. 28, is on the north side: hotels near the place des Vosges.
The islands (4). All four hotels are on the Île Saint-Louis: hotels on the Île Saint-Louis. Pont Marie (line 7) is the nearest station for all four, three to four minutes away on foot.
The Paris tourist tax is added to the bill per adult per night and depends on the official category: in 2026, €11.70 in a five-star, €8.45 in a four-star, €5.53 in a three-star, €3.25 in a two-star and €2.60 in a one-star. The first four arrondissements are a limited-traffic zone: you may drive to your hotel or take a taxi, but not cross the zone. The islands are outside it.
Is the 4th arrondissement a good place to stay in Paris?
For a first visit, yes, on our figures. From the place des Vosges, the IDFM timetables give 17 minutes to the Louvre, 19 to Notre-Dame and 37 to 38 to the Eiffel Tower on a weekday morning. Two drawbacks: the Centre Pompidou has been closed for works since September 2025, and the Sunday crowds in rue des Rosiers and on rue des Francs-Bourgeois are dense.
What are the standout hotels in the 4th arrondissement of Paris?
We do not rate hotels. Four of the 38 in the 4th are classified five stars — Le Grand Mazarin, SO/ Paris, Hôtel Dupond-Smith and Cour des Vosges — and nine four stars. The table above matches hotels to needs, and the rule behind the fifteen picks is explained below.
Where should I stay in Paris for four nights?
We cover only the 3rd and 4th, so we cannot compare with other districts. Within the 4th, Saint-Paul offers line 1, the Village Saint-Paul and the largest choice, with 16 hotels. The Hôtel de Ville sector has the most connections, and the island is residential, with almost no shops outside rue Saint-Louis-en-l'Île.
What is the 4th arrondissement known for?
Notre-Dame on the Île de la Cité, the Hôtel de Ville, seat of the city administration on this site since 1357, the south of the Marais with the Village Saint-Paul and the place des Vosges, rue des Rosiers and the Île Saint-Louis. The Centre Pompidou is closed for works until 2030.
How many hotels are there in the 4th arrondissement?
Our database counts 38 open hotels: four five-star, nine four-star, twenty three-star, two two-star, one one-star and two unclassified. Saint-Paul has 16, Hôtel de Ville 11, the islands 4, rue des Rosiers 4 and the place des Vosges 3.
