Where it is

SO/ Paris stands at 10 rue Agrippa-d’Aubigné, on the Morland block facing the Île Saint-Louis. Strictly this is the Arsenal district, outside our five Marais sectors; we file it with Saint-Paul because Sully-Morland, on line 7, is three minutes away.

The building is the old “Morland” prefecture block, sixteen storeys built from 1957 to 1964 for the Paris prefecture. Reworked by David Chipperfield Architects and CALQ, it opened as a hotel in June 2022, and Atout France classed it five stars on 17 October 2022. It belongs to the SO/ brand of the Ennismore group.

Rooms, spa and the top floors

Of the 162 rooms, the MICHELIN Guide says more than half face the Eiffel Tower. Air conditioning is in all of them, according to the hotel, and some rooms and suites connect. Dogs are accepted for a supplement.

The Maison CODAGE spa has treatment cabins and a large hammam, and the gym is open 24 hours a day. At the top, the 15th and 16th floors hold Bonnie, a restaurant, bar and club with a panoramic terrace behind glazing that carries an Olafur Eliasson installation. Valet parking is a paid service.

Reaching the Marais

The walk from Sully-Morland is short, and Quai de la Rapée (line 5) and Bastille (lines 1, 5, 8) are each about eight minutes away. Against nearby hotels

At 162 rooms it is the largest hotel in our files; the next, the National des Arts et Métiers, has 64. The Hôtel Saint-Louis Marais, a three-star of 12 rooms, is the nearest at about 285 metres as the crow flies. The Hôtel Charles V, four stars and 22 rooms, and the three-star Hôtel Castex with 30 rooms are both under 400 metres.
