Hôtel du Vieux Marais

A small street between Beaubourg and the Archives

The hotel is at 8 rue du Plâtre, between rue du Temple and rue des Archives, in the north-west corner of the 4th arrondissement. We file it with Hôtel de Ville, in the Saint-Merri and Verrerie sector. It is independent, with no chain or collection shown; Atout France classed it three stars on 3 January 2023 for 29 rooms.

Rooms, lounge and breakfast

Every one of the 29 rooms is described as fitted with reversible air conditioning. Twin and triple rooms mostly overlook a courtyard, in a small street the hotel calls quiet. The triple is a Twin room with a true third bed, according to the hotel.

Reception, the lounge in Régence style and the vaulted, alcoved breakfast room were fitted out by Didier Benderli, who also designed the interiors of Le Pavillon de la Reine. There is a lift and room service; the hotel offers breakfast only. It has no accessible rooms, and parking is a paid service on request.

The neighbourhood

As the crow flies, the Archives nationales are about 160 metres away, and the Musée d’art et d’histoire du Judaïsme about 200. The Centre Pompidou, at roughly 340 metres, is closed for renovation, with reopening announced for 2030; our Centre Pompidou page explains what remains on the square. Same price bracket

Distances are as the crow flies. The Hôtel de la Bretonnerie is 85 metres away with the same 29 rooms and three stars, but it lists family rooms and small pets, and mentions no air conditioning. The Hôtel Beaubourg, three stars and 28 rooms, is about 180 metres off and lists all its rooms as air-conditioned. The four-star Hôtel Duo, 58 rooms, lies some 220 metres away.
