Hôtel du Jeu de Paume, 54 rue Saint-Louis-en-l'Île: four stars, 30 rooms in a 1634 real tennis court, vaulted spa, garden patio, Pont Marie metro. Checked October 2026.
On the Île Saint-Louis
The hotel is at 54 rue Saint-Louis-en-l’Île, in the main street of the island. The Pont Marie station on line 7 is three minutes away; Sully-Morland takes six and Saint-Paul eight. The house describes itself as run by a family, and shows no chain. Atout France classed it four stars on 17 August 2022, for 30 rooms.
A tennis court turned hotel
The building is a real tennis court, the royal game that came before modern tennis. It was built in 1634 on Louis XIII’s orders and played in until 1747. The heritage database inscribes it as a historic monument by an order of 23 April 1987, the year the hotel was created by the architect Guy Prache. Under a frame the hotel calls 300 years old, the atrium rises 17 metres, and breakfast is served beneath it.
Rooms and wellness
Rooms are air-conditioned, apart from the two apartments, which have two and three bedrooms, and the ground floor of some junior suites. Double rooms connect, and the hotel says single and classic double rooms offer access for reduced mobility. A garden patio and a bar, open from 9 am to 11.30 pm, complete the picture. In the vaulted cellars lie a hammam, a sauna, a massage bed and fitness equipment, paid and reserved for guests. The hotel holds the Clef Verte label.
Around the island
The Hôtel de Ville is about 250 metres away, across the Seine; see our Île Saint-Louis guide and our Hôtel de Ville page. The Mémorial de la Shoah is about 310 metres off, and the Village Saint-Paul lies some 450 metres away, covered in our Village Saint-Paul page.
Within the island
The three-star Hôtel des Deux Îles, with 17 rooms, is the nearest at about 90 metres. The four-star Hôtel L de Lutèce, 22 rooms, is about 120 metres off, and the three-star Hôtel Saint-Louis en l’Isle, 20 rooms, about 155. The Jeu de Paume is the largest of the four.
