Boudoir des Muses, 6 rue de Saintonge — a four-star hotel in the former Théâtre Directoire, two private spas, pool, sauna and metro. Checked October 2026.
A theatre on rue de Saintonge
The Boudoir des Muses is at 6 rue de Saintonge, at the bottom of the street and a few dozen metres from rue Vieille-du-Temple; administratively it falls in the Archives quarter of the 3rd arrondissement. The same building is recorded in the heritage database at 117 rue Vieille-du-Temple: it is the former Théâtre Directoire, whose façades, roofs, theatre and galleries were registered as a historic monument by an order of 5 June 1972.
Atout France, the agency that grants official hotel stars, classified it four stars on 29 October 2024, for 28 rooms. It presents itself as independent.
Private spas and rooms for two
The hotel’s two spas are not shared facilities but private bathing salons, booked for ninety minutes, and also open to guests from outside. Vénus combines a hot tub and a sauna. Hédoné holds a pool and a hammam, built where the dressed stone of the old building was kept and restored.
Rooms are air-conditioned and take two people, plus a baby. Some rooms are adapted for guests with reduced mobility, and a lift serves the whole hotel. Breakfast is served under a glass roof; there is no restaurant or bar. The FAQ rules out pets and a gym, and there is no private car park, though guests get a reduction at the Temple car park.
Museums and four-star neighbours
The Musée Picasso, in the Hôtel Salé, is about three minutes away, and so is the Marché des Enfants-Rouges. The Musée de la Chasse et de la Nature is four minutes away, the Archives nationales and the Musée Cognacq-Jay about six, the Musée Carnavalet and rue des Rosiers about eight.
Two four-star hotels are about a minute away: the Hôtel du Petit Moulin has 17 rooms, a bar and accepts pets; Maison Saintonge has 22 rooms and a patio. The Hôtel Suzie Blue and La Chambre du Marais, both about four minutes away, offer a coffee shop and a bar respectively. None of them lists a pool.
