Hotels Marais Paris

From Sinner to Experimental

The hotel stands at 116 rue du Temple, on the corner of rue Chapon, in the 3rd arrondissement. It markets its location as the Haut-Marais; on our map it belongs to the Arts-et-Métiers side, because Arts et Métiers station is about 350 metres away against 500 metres for Rambuteau. In Paris’s own administrative grid, the block falls in the Sainte-Avoie quarter.

Experimental Group reopened the former Sinner in March 2025. The national register kept by Atout France, the agency that awards hotel stars in France, shows the new name with a five-star decision dated 3 June 2024, before that reopening.

Rooms, spa and table

There are 43 rooms, none of them for more than two people. Tristan Auer’s scheme keeps to one idea throughout — Gothic arches and coloured glass, drawn, the hotel says, from the religious heritage of the Marais.

The spa is the largest of the shared spaces. The hotel calls its water feature an indoor Roman bath, not a pool, and places it beside a hammam and a treatment room for two. Temple & Chapon serves lunch and dinner in the manner of a 1950s American grill, and the American Bar is furnished with low armchairs. The terrace, which the hotel calls new, opens onto the street, not onto a rooftop.

The official website lists no air conditioning, fitness room, parking, pets or adapted rooms, so ask the hotel about each before booking.

Around rue du Temple on foot

The Musée de la Chasse et de la Nature, at 62 rue des Archives, is about three minutes away. The Marché des Enfants-Rouges, the covered market created in 1615, and the Musée d’art et d’histoire du Judaïsme are both about five minutes on foot; the Archives nationales in the Hôtel de Soubise and the Musée des Arts et Métiers about six.

Two other five-star hotels lie within a short walk. Maison Proust, on rue de Picardie, has 23 rooms, a pool and family rooms; Les Bains, in the former Bains Douches club, adds a pool and a garden. Experimental Marais is the largest of the three, with 43 rooms, but unlike Maison Proust it lists no family rooms. For the full comparison, see our luxury hotels in Le Marais.

Frequently asked questions

What does an Experimental Marais review need to weigh?

We give no score and copy no guest comments; what can be checked is this. Atout France lists the hotel at five stars with a decision dated 3 June 2024, the MICHELIN Guide includes it in its selection without awarding a Key, and the hotel has only traded under this name since March 2025.

Does Experimental Marais have a swimming pool?

Its website describes an indoor Roman bath, open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. when we checked on 2 October 2026, and never calls it a pool, although some press articles do. Maison Proust, about six minutes away on foot, lists a ten-metre pool at its Spa La Mer.

Can a family with children stay at Experimental Marais?

Only by booking separate rooms, as each room sleeps two at most and the website shows no connecting rooms. Among the five-star hotels of the Marais, Le Grand Mazarin advertises communicating rooms and suites for groups of up to ten.

When is the restaurant Temple & Chapon open?

The hotel’s page gives lunch from 12 noon to 2.30 p.m. and dinner from 7 p.m. to 10.30 p.m., as checked on 2 October 2026.

Which metro station is nearest to Experimental Marais?

Arts et Métiers, served by lines 3 and 11, is roughly 350 metres from the door. Rambuteau (line 11) is about six minutes away and Temple (line 3) about seven.
