Rue de Turbigo

The hotel is at 39 rue de Turbigo, in the 3rd arrondissement and the Arts-et-Métiers administrative quarter. Réaumur - Sébastopol (lines 3 and 4) is three minutes on foot, Étienne Marcel (line 4) four, and Arts et Métiers (lines 3 and 11) five.

Atout France, the national agency that classifies hotels, rated it two stars on 7 November 2023, for 59 rooms. It is independent, run by the company Hôtel Bellevue et Restaurant du Chariot d’Or, registered since 1957; the hotel belongs to no chain.

The house and its rooms

The name comes from an inn. The building stands where a house called Le Chariot d’or stood, and an old plaque on the facade says it was founded in the 14th century; that date refers to the inn, not to the current walls. Inside, the breakfast room keeps its Belle Époque decoration, with mouldings and stained glass, and a bar there serves cold drinks.

Rooms run from doubles to triples and quadruples; the hotel counts 8 triple rooms and presents them as suited to a family. Some doubles have ceiling mouldings and a balcony. Wheelchair-accessible rooms are available on request, and the hotel states that the whole building is accessible. Pets are not allowed. Air conditioning, parking and a terrace are not mentioned.

On foot from rue de Turbigo

The Musée des Arts et Métiers is about 300 metres away on foot; the hotel sits closer to it than to the Centre Pompidou, some 650 metres off, which is closed for works. Our Musée des Arts et Métiers guide has the opening details.

Against its neighbours

Another two-star, Hôtel de Roubaix, with 54 rooms, is about 100 metres away on foot; the Bellevue has five more rooms. The four-star Hôtel National des Arts et Métiers has 64 rooms and stands about 150 metres off, and the five-star Les Bains, 39 rooms, about 150 too. With two stars, like the Roubaix, the Bellevue is in the lowest category of the four hotels cited.
