The gay Marais, a map of the checked addresses
The gay Marais around rue des Archives and rue Vieille-du-Temple — Cox, Le Raidd Bar, La Mutinerie, and the LGBTQI+ centre, with the hours we could read. Checked October 2026.
Where the district sits
Time Out places the gay Marais around rue des Archives, rue Sainte-Croix-de-la-Bretonnerie and rue Vieille-du-Temple. This page lists only addresses that present themselves as LGBTQ+ and have a trace of activity in 2026. We make no assumption about any other bar, restaurant or shop in the district: if a place does not describe itself that way in what we read, it does not appear.

Addresses
- Cox, 15 rue des Archives (4th). A gay bar of the Marais, with a happy hour until 10 p.m. Open daily from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. according to its website, updated on 4 October 2026. The Time Out entry is old, so we cite only the address and the official hours.
- Le Raidd Bar, 23 rue du Temple (4th). A gay bar with drag nights and shows. Its site carries 2026 news, including a summer terrace from 1 April 2026.
- La Mutinerie, 176-178 rue Saint-Martin (3rd). A queer-feminist bar and venue with concerts and DJ sets, listed by Time Out in its LGBT section. Open daily from 5 p.m. on an undated page, so the 2026 proof is weak. It sits near Beaubourg, outside the strict Marais.
- Centre LGBTQI+ de Paris et d’Île-de-France, 63 rue Beaubourg (3rd). Reception centre, library and associations, with free reception.
Open Café, Le 3W Kafé, Le Quetzal, Le Spyce, Bear’s Den, Dépôt and Le Tango are not listed, because their only traces are Time Out entries of 2011 to 2013, a social-media page, or no official site.
A short history of the district
According to Wikipedia, an LGBT community has strengthened in the Marais since the 1980s, and the rue Sainte-Croix-de-la-Bretonnerie is its commercial hub: bars, restaurants, bookshops and clothes shops. Two public places carry the memory: the place Harvey-Milk, with a rainbow-coloured pedestrian crossing, and the place des Émeutes-de-Stonewall, an official memorial to Gilbert Baker. Our four addresses sit near these streets, not on them, and we do not say that one street is more gay than another.
How far apart the addresses are
We geocoded the four addresses with the national address base. Cox (rue des Archives) and Le Raidd Bar (rue du Temple) are 122 m apart in a straight line, 2 minutes on foot by our rule of 1.3 times the straight line at 80 metres a minute. La Mutinerie and the LGBTQI+ Centre are 167 m apart, 3 minutes. The two pairs are about 410 to 540 m from each other, 7 to 9 minutes.
| From / to | Straight line | On foot |
|---|---|---|
| Cox to Le Raidd Bar | 122 m | 2 min |
| La Mutinerie to the LGBTQI+ Centre | 167 m | 3 min |
| Le Raidd Bar to La Mutinerie | 411 m | 7 min |
| Le Raidd Bar to the LGBTQI+ Centre | 468 m | 8 min |
| Cox to La Mutinerie | 509 m | 8 min |
| Cox to the LGBTQI+ Centre | 536 m | 9 min |
The first pair stands in the 4th arrondissement, close to the BHV (158 m from Cox, 199 m from Le Raidd Bar); the second in the 3rd, near the Centre Pompidou building, which is closed, and the Museum of Jewish Art and History, 254 m from the Centre. The Centre is the one address on the list that is not a bar.

What the Centre offers, and when
The Centre LGBTQI+ is the one address of the four that is not a bar, and its official site is precise. Reception is open Monday to Friday from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Saturday from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.; on Sunday, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., it is reserved for support to asylum seekers. The library has its own hours: Monday to Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The services listed are legal support, health and mental-health resources, support groups and cultural activities. Wheelchair access is limited to the ground floor, and a buzzer at the gate calls for help. The site names Arts et Métiers (line 3) and Rambuteau (line 11) as the stations.
What the bars say about themselves
Cox says it is open seven days a week from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m., with a happy hour until 10 p.m. and DJ programming. The Le Raidd Bar site announces drag nights and shows. La Mutinerie describes itself as a queer-feminist bar and venue with concerts and DJ sets. We repeat these descriptions without judging them, and we publish no price, since only Time Out gives a band for La Mutinerie.
