Hotels Marais Paris

What we checked, and what we did not

This page is a record of what four operators say on their own public pages on 4 October 2026. It is not a list of verified addresses: we bought nothing, joined no tour and found no editorial source, Le Fooding or Michelin, covering any of them. Treat each entry as an offer.

The four operators

  • Eating Europe. A food and wine walk through the Marais, three hours, six stops. Price shown: « from €124 ».
  • Secret Food Tours. A tour of the Marais of three to three and a half hours, five or six stops. Price shown: €109.99.
  • Devour Tours. A food tour of the Marais, three hours, eight stops. We could not read the price.
  • Original Food Tours. « The Original Marais Food Tour », which passes through the marché des Enfants-Rouges. A figure of €99 appears near a neighbouring tour; we cannot attribute it with certainty, so we do not give a price.

Operators we looked at and did not keep: Paris by Mouth and Le Food Trip, because their pages could not be read in full or at all, and Context Travel, whose page lists no food tour of the Marais.

How the pages differ

The four pages do not describe the same walk. Eating Europe pairs food with wine; Secret Food Tours gives a wider time window of up to three and a half hours; Devour Tours has the most stops, eight; Original Food Tours is the only one whose page names a market, the Enfants-Rouges. The maximum group size is 10 for Eating Europe and Original Food Tours, 12 for Devour Tours and 12 or 13 for Secret Food Tours. None of this has been checked on a tour.

What the operators say about conditions

Two of the four pages state their conditions in enough detail to compare. Eating Europe gives three hours and six stops, a maximum of 10 people, and a guide who speaks English and French. All food and drinks are included, vegetarian options are offered, vegan, gluten-free and kosher choices may be limited, and a booking can be cancelled and refunded up to 24 hours before departure. Children under four join free, with no food included under three.

Devour Tours gives three hours and more than ten dishes at eight stops, with a maximum of 12 people. Vegetarian and alcohol-free options are possible; the page advises against a gluten-free request because of cross-contamination, and offers free cancellation. In both cases, say what you cannot eat at the time of booking. We have not joined either tour, and these are the operators’ statements.

A self-guided food route instead

The same district can be eaten on foot, at your own pace, using addresses from our other pages. The route below runs from the covered market to the island, in about 2 km.

Leg Straight line On foot
Marché des Enfants-Rouges to Miznon 686 m 11 min
Miznon to the Village Saint-Paul 443 m 7 min
Village Saint-Paul to Berthillon 426 m 7 min

Walking times use 1.3 times the straight line at 80 metres a minute; the total is about 2,023 m, 25 minutes. The Marché des Enfants-Rouges is open on Sunday from 8.30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and closed on Monday; its producer’s stand runs on Wednesday and Saturday mornings only. Miznon (see falafel in Le Marais) is open Sunday to Thursday from noon to 11 p.m. and until 4 p.m. on Friday. Berthillon (the ice-cream house) trades Wednesday to Sunday, so the route works from Wednesday to Sunday only, and it stops at Miznon before Saturday begins. For a late breakfast on the way, see brunch in Le Marais.

Questions to ask before paying

The pages we read do not publish a meeting point; it is sent after booking. Ask for the exact address, whether the tour runs in rain, how the stops are split between sit-down and standing tastings, and whether a stop is a kosher address that closes on Friday afternoon. None of these answers is on the pages we read.

Metro along the self-guided route

The self-guided route above crosses three corners of the district, each served by different stations.

  • Hôtel du Vieux Saule, 43 m from the Marché des Enfants-Rouges, lists Filles du Calvaire (line 8) at 400 m, 5 min on foot; Temple (line 3) at 500 m, 6 min on foot.
  • Hôtel Charles V, 17 m from the Village Saint-Paul, lists Saint-Paul (line 1) at 250 m, 3 min on foot; Sully-Morland (line 7) at 250 m, 3 min on foot.
  • Hôtel du Jeu de Paume, 54 m from Berthillon, lists Pont Marie (line 7) at 250 m, 3 min on foot; Sully-Morland (line 7) at 500 m, 6 min on foot.

Before you book

Read the meeting point, the dietary notes and the cancellation terms on the operator’s page. Remember that the Marais has shop and market rhythms of its own: the Sunday rules are in Le Marais on Sunday, and a table to book separately is easier to choose from our restaurant selection.

Price per hour, from the pages

The two operators that publish a price both run about three hours. At €124 for three hours, Eating Europe works out at about €41 an hour per person; at €109.99 for three to three and a half hours, Secret Food Tours at about €31 to €37. These are the prices shown on 4 and 5 October 2026 and may vary with currency and date, as the pages themselves warn.

Where to sleep

A tour that starts in the 3rd or 4th arrondissement is easiest to reach from a hotel in the same area. See the hotels of the 4th arrondissement and of the 3rd.
